Prepare carefully is the best way to prepare a colony prior to starting a colony, it needs some UI improvements (The search functions in character editor, please) though. it does its job and doesn’t break saves so. all we have is character editor (which can feel a tad cheat when it spawns you in with your venerated animals and a random sniper rifle as tribal) but eh. No confusion really.Ĭharacter Editor, however, is a real mess and feels like navigating a 90ies website, sadly Prepare Carefully hasn’t been stable since 1.2 (breaking saves regularly) and the forked version for 1.4 is plainly not working as it should so. It use the exact same screen as non-modded does - but in its own window and with the options to change. I had a friend recently get the game and before he even booted it up I said get Harmony and Prepare Carefully. For example a new player could go into the screen see they can adjust skills, and then just max all of them to make the game easier, which ruins a storytelling aspect when they don't understand how that works. Also it does enable really weird colonists and starting scenarios, which can seem very dev-mode like. But for the average new player, all of the stuff they see on the prepare carefully screen is going to make them really confused when just starting out. Grandma and her family dropping on the planet will create one. grandma randomly dropping in the back yard is not a story. Including being able to start with skilltrainers to get everybody to 20 stats.Īnd storytelling. There's far more broken things in vanilla Rimworld than multiple 20 stat pawns with good traits. So in other words, almost every single screen you see before starting a game.īalance is a completely moot point too. "you have to play with the cards you are dealt" requires ignoring of the reroll pawn button, storyteller settings, scenario editor, ideology, and biotech. There is a reason why even with Genemorphing, you cant just make a perfect uber pawn. The DLC only expands on it to the point where you can have some fun with more custom cards mixed into the same already existing deck. You are to play with the cards you are dealt. You are still forced to use a random pawn to modify. Not statwise and not to the lowest or highest percent. They let you to a limited standard customize your pawns but not fully. To those who say Genes let you do it: No they dont. The facts are that Tynan doesnt want to implement full on pawn customization.
